Few Common Design Mistakes

Few Common Design Mistakes
In the modern era, everybody is eager to get his business online to reach masses. For that purpose they need to hire a web-design company to create a website that represents their products and services. It is one of the common mistakes made by most of the web design and development companies that they do not incorporate the much needed SEO elements. This is due to the fact that most of the web design companies are not mindful of SEO-friendly designs. As a result, even after making an awesome website, the company does not make much profit. It is all due to weak SEO web design concept.  This makes it important for you to always opt for a professional company that has exact knowledge about SEO elements to be incorporated in the website design.
Below you will find a few common SEO design mistakes that one must always avoid to attain Search Engine popularity:
1. Extra usage of Flash: Adobe has made a lot of outstanding strides in getting its files readable, and should be applauded for it. But it must be noted that the text in the Flash files gets embedded into the images, which are not interpreted by the search engines. Most of the time, the search engine sees a big blank spot whenever Flash is exhibited, so it cannot judge how relevant a website is.
2. Utilization of frames: Search engines also don’t like internet sites in frames as it is difficult for search engine spiders to examine and rank the website. The old hat coding impacts the reputation of the website and ends up in lowering down its rank within the search engines.
3. Applying JavaScript navigation: JavaScript is devaluated by the Web spiders. So abstain from making extensive use of javascript drop down links and other navigation tools.
4. Unnecessary usage of Graphics: Web crawlers do not acknowledge links that are made in graphics. They distinctly support links in text format, so whenever you need to make link, you should make it using the plain text format. For image links, proper usage of ALT tags should be done.
5. Utilization of hidden text: Making use of hidden text is against the guidelines of the search engines. Search engines might ban such websites and this would result in an immediate disbarment from all the web crawlers.
6. Lack of content on the home page: There are a few very big companies who think that they can get adequate search engine rankings with no need of supplying readable text to the website’s homepage. This is a huge mistake done by them. Content is what makes our websites readable for search engines and ideally, we should have keywords based content on the home page.

Latest In Google Optimization

Jan 17, 2010

GOOGLE is the name that strikes your mind first when you want to find something on internet. In true sense, Google is the synonym for internet. If you are looking for bakeries, florists, plumbers or even internet developers, all you need to do is to go to Google and search and find the right source to match your requirements.  Google is the lifeline for businesses that are looking to be found by clients all over the world.

Generally a normal user would just browse through the first couple of pages in Google while searching for what they need. If they do not find what they want, they would in general experiment by changing or modifying the keyword they use for searching. Keeping this in mind Google brings up the most relevant searches on the first page for different keywords. For this, Google uses an algorithm which would measure the site on its relevance with the keyword being fed in by the user to get the best and the most relevant result on the first page.

Although Google’s idea is simple, the implementation hasn’t been that easy.  There are many webmasters who keep researching on the Google algorithm and try to make changes to their websites according to what Google likes. This is a way to reach the first page of Google for a related key phrase. However, Google knows about such elements and to avoid such websites Google keeps changing their algorithm enabling such tricksters to keep making changes to their websites. The latest change that Google has made is very recent which has started taking effect January onwards.

Google has now emphasised on the way site code is written. Google wants the code of your site to be clean and easily read. In brief, Google wants you to keep the code (HTML and scripts) to be short and sweet. However, this is not the only thing to be able to see your site on first page of Google. There are others as well, but if you can just follow the Google guidelines on optimization, your site will surely rank well.

To sum it up all, type Google Guidelines for Optimization on Google and find out how Google wants you to build your website to be indexed easily by Google.

Social Networking

Jan 5, 2010

Social networking is one of the latest trends over internet.  Although it seems to be the most modern trend, its history goes back to 1985 when THE WELL was initiated. THE WELL is one of the oldest online communities which is known for its online forums.  During the 1990’s technology was at a boom and sites like tripod.com and geocities .com started getting popular. These sites would let individuals create their homepage which was generally a personal profile.  This was also the starting of the blogging culture within internet.

In 1997, SixDegrees.com was launched where you could create user profiles and send messages directly to friends. SixDegrees.com allowed you to search for people with similar interests and add them to your friends list. In spite of having all these features, SixDegrees.com was shut down as it could not gather profits, maybe because the site was ahead of its time. During 2002 and 2004 there were three such sites namely Friendster, Myspace and Linked in that emerged and changed the way people worked on internet. It started with Friendster in 2002 which Google tried to acquire in 2003, then Myspace which had more page views that Google at one time and then Linkedin.  In 2004, Facebook started emerging and in just a few years Facebook became one of the fastest and the largest growing sites not limiting to geographical locations. Facebook opened gateways by allowing externally developed add on applications which allowed people to integrate their applications within the site.  Facebook is not only used by individuals but also used by several businesses to promote their services and products as well.

After 2005, Social Networking began flourishing as a business component and many businesses started using sites like Facebook, Bebo and Myspace as a tool to promote their businesses.  In 2006 came Twitter which although has comparatively lesser features became one of the most popular sites in 2008-09 because of the ease of use it allows.

Social networks are becoming increasingly popular amongst students, teachers, businessmen, non profit organizations, celebrities and others to interact with each other. It is easy to create profiles and get connected to people with your interests. Sites like Facebook , Myspace and Orkut have started using Collabarative techniques to give users a better experience  while sites like Twitter are winning on the ease of use syndrome. With all this in action, there are more developments that are being done in order to make  it easier for people to get connected.

Centex Technologies plans Social Networking campaigns for clients to market their products on major social networks.
